WELCOME TO THE 2023 WINTER BASKETBALL & HOCKEY REGISTRATION!

Pearl Park offers basketball and hockey in the winter season. Registration must be completed online; payment options are credit/debit card or checking account transfer. To request and register with a need-based scholarship, please contact Pearl Park.

Schedules will be posted under the tab for each sport once they are available.

Youth sports programs rely on volunteers. Please consider coaching or volunteering in another capacity to keep Pearl Park sports programs strong. To volunteer or for info on opportunities, complete the volunteer section on your player's registration.

Register early! All fees increase by $10 on November 16. *Some divisions may fill up prior to this date

Practice / Game Information:

Practices for 11u-18u basketball will vary based on gym availability. Gym locations include Pearl Park, Hale School and Field School.
Due to limited gym space, practice and game days will vary for 11U – 18U leagues. Anticipate 2-3 total team commitments per week including games and practices
11-18U Games will begin the week of Jan 7. The schedule will come out 1-2 weeks before the start
6u and 8u Basketball times are between 5:30 and 8:30pm and will vary by week.

Practice Information:

Practices for Hockey 11U – 18U leagues and Squirts begin the week of December 3rd. Hockey practice days and times will vary based on indoor and outdoor ice availability. Locations include Parade and Northeast Arenas and Pearl and McRae Parks.
Due to limited ice time, practice and game days will vary for 11U – 18U leagues. Anticipate 2-3 total team commitments per week including games and practices.
Fundamental hockey plays on Saturdays at 10am. While the program teaches skating, it is not a "learn to skate" program. Players should be able to skate the length of a rink without falling down.

Registration notes

Birth date verification is required for all players in 11U and older leagues.
Kids with summer birthdays (June 1-August 31) who did not start kindergarten until they were six years are allowed to play with their current grade. Register for the age division offered, then contact us to inquire about switching age divisions.
Registration refunds will be less a $5 processing fee if cancelled before the first game. Occasionally, due to low participation or coaching numbers, we may have to cancel a team. In such case, players will receive a full refund and Pearl Park will assist players in finding other parks with availability.

IMPORTANT COVID-19 RELATED INFORMATION

Upon registering for winter sports, players, coaches, parents and spectators agree to follow MPRB COVID-19 protocols and guidelines. Note: current guidelines are listed below and are subject to change.

COVID Protocol for MPRB sports:

Players, coaches and spectators are asked to do a self check prior to coming to practices or games. Stay home when sick or feeling possible symptoms of COVID. Please err on the side of caution.
If a player tests positive for COVID, notify the park director ASAP by emailing pearl@minneapolisparks.org.
If protocols change during the season, an update will be sent out.
